Background

The Araku Valley is around 114 kilometres from the coastal splendour of Vishakhapatnam and is a home to 19 tribes which are connected to the tribes of further North. These tribal regions suffer a development deficit on account of poor infrastructure, lack of education, healthcare, poverty, and clean water and energy resources. The inhabitants of the region dwell in poverty. Years of exploitation and/or isolation have made the tribes very regressive, stalling their development even further. They are unable to benefit from social and economic life and hence remain poor and deprived. Such lack of opportunity keeps them away from main stream development and as country, we lose out the immense potential and talents of our native tribes.

At Think Peace, we recognize the social and economic contribution of every community and acknowledge their cultural heritage. With our programs we intend to make a positive intervention in the rural systems and create an environment of empowerment that can foster developmental activities. Our primary work includes electrification, education, health and hygiene and legal literacy
